It seems I am the first one to post something on the "Miscellaneous Builds" board... Well, here we go !
As some of you may know, I am a huge fan of both Avatar series, The Legend of Aang and The Legend of Korra. Recently I recreate one of my favorite scenes from the first season of LoK, the chase between team Avatar and the Chi-Blockers. I assume most of you have already seen this on Flickr, but i think it is a nice opportunity to put all shots of it together in one thread and also gives those of you, who have not seen it yet a chance to have a look at all photos a once.
First, here is the cinematic shot, which was my main focus while building (though it later turned into a diorama).
“As the anti-bending-revolution continues, the grip of Amon’s claw on the city tightens and more and more Chi-Blockers can be seen in the streets. While Chief Saikhan’s metal bending police and council member Tarrlok’s task force seem helpless, the new team Avatar, led by Avatar Korra, intervenes and patrols the streets, opposing the notorious rebels.“ - Shiro Shinobi
Second, we have the whole diorama, including four individual buildings, featuring a cabbage merchant, two shops and a restaurant. The placing of the vehicles differs a bit from the scene here, since they are a bit more in the center of the build.
In the following details compilation you can have a closer look at the shops and buildings. i used a lot of reference material to make it look as accurate as possible (actually that was a lt of fun, since I mostly watched my favorite episode over and over again).
Now to the vehicles. The first and most important vehicle is of course Asami's Satomobil, team Avatar's ride during the chase. This was the first thing I built for the project and was originally planned to be a standalone build. However, after I had the idea for the scene, I just couldn't stop building. I have to say I am very satisfied with this and I think it might be my best build up to this day.
Asami’s satomobil was a luxury sports car produced by Future Industries. The open vehicle featured four passenger seats, a bumper and a radio, which was able to even receive frequencies used by the police. Its distinctive black and red color scheme with chrome trimmings gave it a certain aristocratic look, suiting Asami’s position as heir of the Future Industries economic empire.
While patrolling the streets of Republic City during the anti-bending revolution, the new team Avatar, led by Avatar Korra, made use of Asami’s satomobil. The vehicle was later destroyed in the battle for Republic City, when it was crashed into an Equalist mecha tank.
Finally, there are the Equalist motorcycles. I recently discovered the connection between the binoculars and the motorcycle wheels and this was the time to use it to build an actual motorcycle. They can even do a wheel and fit a minifgure very well.
The motorcycles used by the members of the Equalist movement were optimized for the fight against bender, showing a high speed and quick acceleration. They were even equipped with smoke generators to produce a smokescreen, giving them a possibility to easily vanish from the sight of anyone in pursuit. These vehicles were mostly used by Amon’s notorious Chi-Blockers in their fight against benders and even team Avatar and Avatar Korra.
