SfK Centuri Freebuild 1 (Feb): Shipwreck

When last we left off with Oren and Lemna, they were about to test-pilot the MSR-3 "Cub".
As they fly loops and manoeuvres around home base, everything seems to be looking good with both the ship and their piloting. They take turns, exchanging not only the controls but trash-talk and challenges.
They're so caught up in it that they miss a scrap of data on their scans...
Since the Imperial occupation, the badlands of Theris are not considered safe for casual travel. Too many disenfranchised and dangerous Therians still hide out in the remote places, carrying on the banditry they once committed against the Terrans. To them, there's not much difference between the Centuri and the Empire. If their acts of aggression were ever motivated by a revolutionary disposition, they've long since abandoned lofty ideals for predatory cash-grabs.
Their weaponry may be crude, but it's more than enough to take down a defenseless shuttle.
Lemna and Oren register a hit. The entire shuttle shakes, straining as if it's about to break apart any second. They brace themselves...
The shuttle slams into the dust and hardpan, scattering debris over a wide area. Miraculously, the "Cub" has proven itself more durable than it appeared. Fire and energy discharge chase up the rear of the ship, making an escape through the hatch impossible...
But there may not be anyone left alive to escape the crash anyway...
