Previously...
As part of the evaluation process, Oren and Lemna are given a shakedown assignment to test their ability to adapt to new equipment in real mission conditions. Their ship is the newly commissioned MSR-3 "Cub", named for its resemblence to Therian children who spend their first years moving on all fours.
Being newly liberated from the Terran Empire, Theris still relies heavily on the involvement of the Centuri Conglomeration for military aid, oversight, and additional security. The MSR-3 is a joint effort design from human and Therian engineers.
As a Multi-role Shuttle (MSR), it's design emphasizes versatility over specialization. The Therian command hope it will become the workhorse of their rapidly evolving fleet.
Though this operation is officially Therian, Centuri observers standby to assess performance of everything from the groundcrews to the pilots in training. Their hovering drones buzz amiably as they record everything.
Lemna tries to hide her jealousy from the drones as Oren enters the ship first.
Tessima Carrol is one of the chief engineers responsible for the MSR-3 "Cub". She wanted to call it "The Rabbit" but was overruled by her own cuteness detector, once the reasoning behind "Cub" was explained to her. Unfortunately, the Therians are uncomfortable with their children being thought of as cute due to the tendency for rich Terran imperial citizens to take Therian cubs as glorified pets, precisely due to their cuteness.
(Bonus figless shot!)

Builder's Notes:
This build continues the story of Oren Arathell and his experiences in the selection process for a special squad commanded by Captain Mero. I'm resubmitting this as my Global Challenge Build due to the extended deadline. It is the most ambitious space build I've ever done, and included a very difficult process designing and building The MSR-3 Cub which also features here (with much more detail) in its own thread.
Oren's story will continue in Freebuilds and future challenges, and you'll definitely see the Cub again, so thanks for looking!
